Q: Where can I find information about current or future Polk County road projects?
A: Please contact the Polk County Transportation Engineering Office at 863-534-6700 or visit the Community Investment Program website.
Q: How can I get my dirt road paved?
A: The County stabilizes (black tops) public unpaved roads based on a road prioritization program that ranks roads based on usage (traffic) and maintenance costs. Because of the large number of roads and limited funding, it could be many years before all unpaved public roads can be stabilized.

Q: How do I find the right-of-way dimensions for a road?
A; Roadways are classified as Federal/State, County, City, or Private roads. Polk County obtains right-of-way by deed, plat, or filing of a maintained right-of-way map. This information can be obtained by visiting the Transportation Engineering Office located in the Neil Combee Administration Building in Bartow, or by calling 863-534-6700.
Q: Who do I contact to tell me where my property lines are?
A: The County does not perform private surveys. Hire a professional surveyor to confirm property boundaries.
Q: There is a pot hole in my road; who do I contact to get it repaired?
A: If the road is maintained by the County, you will need to contact the Roadway Maintenance Division at 863-534-7361 for assistance.
Q: What can I do to find out if my property has any easements?
A: A current title search is the only way to confirm any easements encumbering a property. Old title insurance commitments or policies or plats can be referenced, but they will not indicate easements granted since time of recording.
Q: Who do I contact regarding a sinkhole?
A: If sinkhole is in County right-of-way, contact the County Roadway Maintenance Division at 863-534-7361. If sinkhole is on private property, contact the property owner's insurance policy provider.
