BARTOW, Fla., (July 17, 2009) – Polk County Purchasing Division’s Lora B. Martin and Mary Combee have been recognized nationally for their contributions and training in the area of procurement.
Martin, Purchasing Division Office Manager, is one of three finalists for the 2009 Professional Purchasing Manager of the Year Award from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP).
This award is based on significant contributions to the advancement of the purchasing profession and professional development as demonstrated by the criteria outlined in the award entry form. Candidates for the Manager of the Year Award are selected from nominations submitted by NIGP Chapter affiliates or individuals.
The winner is determined by information submitted in three categories; Contribution to the Entity the Candidate Services, Contributions to the NIGP Chapter and Contributions to the Institute/Profession Nominees must be actively employed in public procurement. The winner will be announced during the 2009 NIGP Forum in St. Louis, Missouri.
Combee, a Senior Buyer, has received her CPCP (Certified Purchasing Card Professional) certification from NAPCP (National Association of Purchasing Card Professionals)
The CPCP credential is awarded to P-Card professionals who have demonstrated experience and understanding of the body of knowledge necessary to administer a Purchasing Card program. This credential focuses on individual skills and knowledge of specialized P-Card functions.
Achieving this designation allows P-Card professionals to be recognized for their distinguished level of expertise. The certification required a minimum of 2 years purchasing or accounting related experience.
