BARTOW, Fla., (July 29, 2009) – There is a one-stop website for information about the federally funded Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) for Polk County home buyers, sellers and vendors interested in the program.
Polk Housing NSP has established www.polkhousing.com to guide people interested in buying a foreclosed home, a banking institution willing to sell a home or a vendor wishing to assist in the rehab and repair of a home.
Congress passed and President Bush signed the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA) that allowed the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide a one-time $3.92 billion source of CDBG funds for emergency assistance to state and local governments to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within their communities. Polk County was allocated approximately $14.5 million.
The website provides potential buyers with a prequalification checklist, an information sheet, provides answers to frequently asked questions and provides information about the Keystone Homebuyer Education Program.
Sellers may submit a property listing within the program’s 10 target areas for consideration.
The program is requesting qualifications of vendors to provide housing development, construction, maintenance and management services for the program. Under the program, over 100 single and multi-family units of housing will be acquired, renovated and sold.
