Polk County (October 30, 2009) - The Eloise-Winterset Canal Bridge on Helena Road in southeast Winter Haven will close Monday, November 2. Polk County will replace the old bridge with a higher and wider bridge built to current design and safety standards.
Signs and barricades will alert motorists and direct traffic along detour route. The detour will help ensure worker safety, shorten the construction schedule and reduce costs. Construction should take about four months to complete, and the bridge will re-open when it is safe for traffic.
Drivers should use caution and expect delays.
