The Public Works Department consists of the following divisions: Facilities Management, Leisure Services, Roadway Maintenance, Traffic Engineering and Operations and Transportation Engineering.
Facilities Management
This division offers facility development, replacement, maintenance and repair to all County departments, divisions and offices.
Leisure Services
This division operates and maintains 32 park sites and 11 mini-parks, which include athletic facilities, picnic areas, a historical-oriented park, and three campgrounds. The division also maintains 40 boat launching sites, produces special events, and conducts a summer program.
Roadway Maintenance
Roadway Maintenance coordinates and supervises the maintenance of over 2,500 miles of County roads, bridges and drainage systems.
Traffic Engineering and Operations
The Traffic Engineering and Operations Division coordinates fabrication, installation and maintenance on all traffic control and informational signs including striping on County roads, as well as installing and maintaining traffic signals for the County, several municipalities and the State Department of Transportation.
Transportation Engineering
The Transportation Engineering Division manages transportation-related aspects of the “Community Investment Program.” The Transportation Engineering CIP is divided into seven categories:
- Annual Maintenance (Recurring Programs)
- Asset Management
- Paving (Roadway) Assessments
- Capacity (Widening) Projects
- Substandard Road Projects
- Intersection Projects
- Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Projects
