BARTOW, Fla. (April 12, 2024) – The National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has recognized Polk County’s Fleet Management Division as an ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Shop for the fourth consecutive year. While there are tens of thousands of vehicle repair shops in the country, only about 1,500 are Blue Seal Certified, and less than 200 of these are municipal government repair shops.
“The Fleet Management Division keeps more than 2,000 pieces of equipment in great running condition,” said Bill Braswell, chairman of the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. “For example, we can always depend on Sheriff’s Office patrol cars and Fire Rescue vehicles to help our residents, and this is because Fleet Management works on them. Our technicians know we can’t afford to have a vehicle failure at a critical time, and their expertise, training and hard work ensures that the county always has enough vehicles in operation to service our growing county.”
To become an ASE Blue Seal of Excellence shop, at least 75% of technicians performing diagnostics and repairs in a shop must be tested and certified by the ASE, and each area of service offered in the shop must be covered by at least one ASE certified technician. For Polk County’s Fleet Management team, the total percentage is 79.2%.
Polk County’s Fleet Management Division holds 282 ASE certifications between 29 technicians. This includes 11 Master Automotive Technicians and seven Medium/Heavy Truck Technicians.
