Everyone is talking about it. Everyone is asking questions. What is it? It is the August 21, 2017 Total Solar Eclipse. On August 12th (before the eclipse), the Imperial Polk Astronomical Society’s presentation in the Workshop building will be about solar eclipses. They will tell you what to expect from it, how and why an eclipse happens, how to watch it safely, different methods for watching it, and where to go to see this one in its totality. Here in Florida, you will see a partial solar eclipse of about 80%. If the weather is good, telescopes will be brought out after the presentation and bring the distant universe closer (in appearance).
Polk’s Nature Discovery Center is located in the Circle B Bar Reserve at 4399 Winter Lake Rd, Lakeland, FL.
Trails are open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
