Rental Information

Are you looking for a unique space to hold a special function? Check out what the Polk History Center has to offer.

Areas of the museum are available for private and community rentals Tuesday through Saturday. Call (863) 534-4386 and speak with Lois Sherrouse-Murphy, museum assistant, for detailed information on rental fees, policies and procedures.

Available Rooms for Rent:

  • Dixon Central Rotunda
    The rotunda of the 1908 Polk County Courthouse is the centerpiece of the museum. The entryway welcomes guests with its ornate stenciling and dome. The rotunda floor features a hand-laid tile rosette. This area is specially suited for small receptions.
  • 1926 Courtroom
    This courtroom is multi-functional, whether hosting a wedding reception, dance, or conference. This room is suitable for large occasions.
  • Conference
    The conference room with adjoining breakroom is located on the third floor. This room is most suitable for mediations, temporary attorney space during trials and small business meetings. 

Booking an Event

Rooms may be rented in the History Center Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. To book an event at the History Center, fill out a facility use agreement form and submit the form along with a $200 security deposit to the office. You may pick up facility use agreement forms at the History Center, download, or request we mail one to you by calling (863) 534-4386.

Event insurance is required for all rentals at the History Center. 

BOOKING YOUR EVENT

Special event rentals at the Polk County History Center are available in specific four-hour increments at $125 per hour,  or full day,  according to the following schedule:   

Rental Periods:

  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • 1 p.m.  to 5 p.m.
  • 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. – Full Day

All special occasions such as weddings, wedding receptions, reunions,anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, etc., require a full day rental at $1,500 per day and require the services of an event planner who has completed all training provided by the History Center.

Security Deposit $200
To secure the date(s). Separate from rental fee and refundable after event if there are no damages or extra time used  
Rental Rate Per hour $125
Includes set-up, take-down & clean-up time  
Room Setup / Breakdown Service:  
Per museum staff member, per hour, deducted from security deposit if rooms are not properly broken down after an event $35
   
Special occasions requiring a full day rental:  $1,500
Requires the services of an event planner who has completed all training provided by the History Center.  
   
For events that include alcohol, additional fees and paperwork are required. Contact PCHC staff for details and requirements  
Equipment Storage $50
Per day for materials not removed after event.  
Non-Profit Rental Fee  $250
Per day, or fraction thereof, during normal PCHC operating hours .* For non-profit before/after hours events, regular rental fees apply  
Commercial Photography (2 hour blocks)
$100
   
Third Floor Conference Room
Security Deposit $200

Daily Rental Fee  $250
(Use schedule: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday)

Rental Cancellation Policies:

Although cancellations are sometimes necessary, the following guidelines apply to all cancellations:

  • Cancellations 10 days prior to the scheduled event date will result in an 80 percent refund.
  • Cancellations less than 10 days prior to the scheduled event date will result in no refund.

Commercial Photography and Filming:

Anyone interested in commercial photography and/or filming on History Center property is required to complete a Polk County Parks & Natural Resources Division Photography/Filming Permit Application which is available in the History Center Reading Room. The form can be completed online and sent by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the form. Once the form is received, a History Center representative will contact you.
