Government
If we’re talking about garbage collection, building permits, zoning laws, water and utility services, taxes and impact fees, etc., we’re likely in the Boardroom of the County Administration Building in Bartow. That’s where the Polk County Board of County Commissioners meets twice a month, at meetings that are open to the public. This five-member governing body of Polk County, all elected officials, addresses the concerns of residents to keep Polk County running smoothly. Other functions, including the Supervisor of Elections, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Clerk of Courts and Sheriff are filled by elected Constitutional Officers.
