Bartow, Fla. (Jan. 5, 2024) — Utility construction scheduled to close Hamlin Street in Lake Wales this week has been postponed until Tuesday morning January 9. Work should be finished, and roadway reopened to traffic by noon Wednesday, January 10. Closure is needed to open-cut both travel lanes on Hamlin Street just north of Grove Avenue to install a potable water line to a new subdivision. During closure, traffic will briefly detour along 11th Street and State Road 60 to bypass work zone. Motorists are advised to drive carefully, be alert to crews and equipment, and follow detour signs. While detour is short, delays are likely during peak-hour traffic.
