Published on Mar 26, 2020
BARTOW (March 26, 2020) – In an effort to exercise flexibility during the uncertain times resulting from COVID-19 and to take measures to keep the public and our inspectors as safe as possible, the Polk County Building Division will expand the list of inspection types eligible for Virtual Inspections and postpone inspections in occupied residential dwelling units.
Effective Thursday, March 26, 2020, Polk’s Virtual Inspections program will allow Contractors of Record to request inspections by email with the submission of pictures. Virtual Inspection by Zoom or FaceTime is still available, as well.
Our Virtual Inspection program is available to Contractors of Record for the following types of inspections for existing structures:
- HVAC Change-Outs
- Electrical Service Repairs and Change-Outs
- Water Heater Installations
- Window and Door Installations
- Roof and Dry-Ins
- Pre-Fabricated Sheds
Also effectively immediately, for all other types of inspections within occupied residential dwelling units, we request that you postpone the scheduling of those inspections until public health official indicate the COVID-19 event has been contained. Any permit that expires as a result of the delay in inspection will be reopened without charge to our customers.
