Bartow, Fla. (Jan. 12, 2021) – The Florida Department of Health in Polk County, in partnership with Polk State College and Polk County Board of County Commissioners, provided COVID-19 vaccines today at Polk State College Lakeland Campus to residents 65 years of age and older.
Residents called the Polk COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline Friday morning to register for today’s event. Approximately 1,000 appointments for vaccine were made for residents.
“We are very pleased with how today’s vaccine drive-thru is going,” says Dr. Joy Jackson, director of the Florida Department of Health in Polk County. “A huge thanks goes to our partners at Polk State College and Polk County Board of County Commissioners for helping us plan and coordinate today’s event. Our collaboration allowed us to coordinate this large event quickly and provide 1000 vaccines for our residents 65 and older here in Polk.”
Those who are eligible for the vaccine, 65 years old and older, are still encouraged to call Polk’s COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline, (863) 298-7500, to be placed on a registration list for a future vaccine appointment, as additional vaccine becomes available.
The Florida Department of Health in Polk County continues to fight to protect health and safety as the rollout of COVID-19 vaccine continues.
