More amenities in Polk parks to open May 26

Bartow, Fla. (May 22, 2020) — Polk County residents will soon be able to use more of the county’s parks and environmental land amenities. The Parks and Natural Resources Division will be reopening the following amenities on Tuesday, May 26:

  • Playgrounds
  • Dog parks
  • Tennis courts
  • Racquetball courts
  • Basketball courts

Ballfields will remain closed to organized group activities. Picnic tables in open spaces may be used; however, the large screened pavilions will remain closed at this time.

All county campgrounds will be increasing capacity to 50 percent and the Saddle Creek Gun Range will increase capacity to 50 percent.

“We request that patrons of our active and passive parks and trails continue to observe social distancing guidelines and enhanced hygiene protocols,” said County Manager Bill Beasley. “Please be patient as staff will be working diligently preparing these facilities for public use.”

Community Resource Centers will continue to be open for computer lab use only. Group and organized activities that take place in the centers remain closed at this time.
