Road Project Closing Denton Avenue and Auburndale-TECO Trail Trailhead for One Month
Published on May 28, 2020
Bartow, Fla. (May 27, 2020) — Starting Monday, a two-month long Polk County and City of Auburndale project to improve a group of roads in the Lakeside Park neighborhood located north of Old Dixie Highway between Berkley Road and the Polk Parkway will close Denton Avenue and the Auburndale/TECO Trail Trailhead in Auburndale for about one month. During road closure, trail users can access the path from the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex about .8 miles north on Berkley Road.
The joint-project will widen travel lanes on Denton Avenue from Moss Road to Jones Road and reconstruct the remaining road segment easterly to the Berkley Road intersection. Moss Road, Hope Road and Plymouth Road will also be reconstructed with the same process that recycles the old asphalt pavement and road base materials back into the roadway. All roads will be repaved with a matching asphalt surface course.
While access will be maintained to homes and businesses, traffic will be detoured to by bypass work zones. Project will also use frequent lane closures until all work is finished. Brief travel delays are expected. Commuters are advised to drive safely, observe detour signs and flaggers, and to add extra time to trips through this area.
