Circle B Bar Reserve Partial Trail Closure

Published on Jun 15, 2020

Bartow, Fla. (6/13/2020) – A portion of Alligator Alley at Circle B Bar Reserve has been closed until further notice due to alligator nesting season. Alligators often become territorial and protective of their nests and young during this time of year. The trail closure is to protect wildlife and keep people safe during nesting season.

The trail closure starts at the intersection of Alligator Alley and Heron Hideout and runs three fourths of a mile toward Lake Hancock. Visitors can still access the dock on Lake Hancock by hiking the Shady Oak trail to Alligator Alley. Signs are posted at the beginning of the trail informing the public the trail is closed until further notice. Polk County Parks and Natural Resources Division staff will monitor the situation and reopen the trail when it is determined to be safe for visitors.
