Bartow, Fla. (January 4, 2021) — Emergency repairs needed to replace a failing bridge beam have closed Deen Still Road just west of Hickman Road near Polk City, Deen Still Road will remain closed until Polk County can install a temporary traffic signal reducing crossing to one travel lane intended for local traffic only. Further investigation is required before a repair and reopening schedule can be determined. Eastbound traffic east of State Road 33 will detour onto Old Grade Road. Westbound through-traffic will not be permitted west of U.S. Highway 27. Westbound traffic will bypass bridge closure along Interstate 4. Lengthy travel delays are expected. Motorists should drive with caution, be alert to detour signs and add extra time to trips through area.
