Multiple Road Closures to Slow Polk Traffic

Published on Mar 23, 2021

Bartow, Fla. (March 23, 2021) — Projects in Poinciana, Lakeland and Davenport will briefly slow Polk traffic over the next two months. A Polk County project to construct two new turn lanes on Lake Marion Creek Drive in Poinciana has closed the intersection at Marigold Avenue until early May. On Monday, an intersection and utility improvement project by the City of Lakeland will close Wabash Avenue for a month from U.S 92 (New Tampa Highway) to Lanier Street near the Publix Employment Office. The first phase of a $60 million luxury apartment project in Davenport has closed the east-west frontage segment of Old Lake Wilson Road near Mouse Mountain RV Resort for the next eight weeks. Traffic will be detoured at all three locations and, except for Old Lake Wilson Road, minor peak-hour delays are expected.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully, follow detour signs, and add extra time to trips through these areas. For further details, call Bill Skelton with the Polk County Roads & Drainage Division at (863) 535-2200.
