PCU Flushing Central Region Water Mains Overnight
Published on Aug 25, 2021
Bartow, Fla. (August 25, 2021) — Polk County Utilities (PCU) will be conducting a coordinated, thorough water main flushing in the Central Region Public Water System overnight tonight (Wednesday, August 25) from 8:00 p.m. until approximately 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. The Central Region includes the areas of Gordonville and Jan Phyl Village.
The purpose of flushing the water mains is to maintain and/or improve overall water quality throughout the distribution system by removing any naturally occurring sediment which may be present in the main.
Although this is a relatively low usage period, potential low pressures and lower water quality may occur during flushing. To minimize low pressures, please restrict all irrigation to designated days. If your house number is odd, your days to water are Wednesday and Saturday. Even numbered houses may irrigate on Thursday and Sunday. Common areas without numbering may irrigate on Tuesday and Friday. Scheduled watering times are 4:00 p.m. to midnight or midnight to 10:00 a.m.
While water quality should be fine following water main flushing, customers in the affected area should let water run for a few seconds before immediately using it for drinking or cooking. Should you encounter any water quality issues on or after August 26, please contact the Polk County Utilities Division at (863) 534-7351.
