Polk County Road Closures Update

Published on Apr 6, 2022

Bartow, Fla. (April 6, 2022) — The westbound lane of Skyview Drive from Reynolds Road to Five Iron Drive in Lakeland will remain closed until early July while crews install a new sewer main. The eastbound travel lane is being maintained for one-way traffic only. Adjoining sidewalk is open to pedestrians and vehicular access to side streets is unrestricted during closure. East Main Street and Maine Avenue can be used as alternate routes to avoid Skyview Drive.

William Van Fleet Road in Auburndale, which closed earlier this month for roadway and drainage construction along the new Lake Juliana Shopping Center frontage, will stay closed through mid-July 2022. Traffic is being detoured to C. Fred Jones Boulevard (State Road 559A) to bypass work zone.

A Polk County drainage project in Auburndale that has kept much of Bridgers Avenue west of McKean Street closed for several months will be largely completed by Friday afternoon with Bridgers Avenue reopening to traffic.

New subdivision construction will close FDC Grove Road in Davenport to traffic from Sandhill Road to Holly Hill Road One for three days starting Wednesday, April 13 to install a storm drainage crossing beneath the road. While traffic will be detoured to U.S. Highway 27 to bypass closure, access will be maintained for nearby residents.

Commuters are advised to drive carefully, follow detour signs, and add extra time to trips through these areas. For further details, call Bill Skelton with the Polk County Roads & Drainage Division at (863) 535-2200.
