Four-Hour Early Morning Gas Pipeline Test Closing Auburndale-Winter Haven Roads Friday, June 3
Published on May 27, 2022
Bartow, Fla. (May 27, 2022) — Florida Gas Transmission Company (FGT) is testing an 8-mile section of 12-inch natural gas pipeline with pressurized water during the early morning hours of 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3. FGT’s pipeline extends from Cone Road in north Auburndale to Recker Highway (State Road 655) just south of K-Ville Avenue in the Inwood area of Winter Haven.
For public safety, traffic is restricted from crossing sections of the pipeline during testing and requires closing the following roads. Detour signs will redirect traffic to bypass these closures.
- CR 559 from Cone Road to Lake Mattie Road,
- Dairy Road from Marianna Road to US 92 with East Bridgers Avenue remaining open for eastbound and westbound traffic,
- Charlotte Road from south of U.S. Highway 92 to north of Havendale Boulevard (SR 544) with Old Winter Haven Road and East Derby Avenue remaining open for eastbound and westbound traffic, and
- 42nd Street NW from south of Havendale Boulevard to Avenue J NW with Avenue Q remaining open for eastbound and westbound traffic accessing the Inwood area
Closures of local intersecting roads will detour using alternate or main detour routes. Road closed signs and law enforcement officers will be stationed at intersecting closures to prohibit vehicles from entering closed roads. Fire and emergency services access will be provided at all times during testing.
There will be no open excavations or underground work during the four-hour test. If the pipeline test does not pass, a second test will be scheduled.
