Bartow, Fla. (May 27, 2022) — Required maintenance needed before and after Florida Gas Transmission tests an 8-mile section of its natural gas pipeline will close East Derby Avenue and the northbound lane of Charlotte Road for 12 hours starting Tuesday morning May 31 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. where the two roads intersect near the Imperial Plaza (Winn-Dixie) shopping center in Auburndale. This same closure will be repeated on Saturday, June 4 following early morning pipeline testing on Friday, June 3 from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. While northbound and southbound traffic along Charlotte Road can travel through the intersection, traffic along the eastbound East Derby Avenue approach will be unable to turn northbound onto Charlotte Road.

A brief detour will redirect traffic around the work zone. Law enforcement officers will be stationed at the intersection for additional safety and traffic control. Fire and emergency services access will be provided at all times during closure.
