Emergency Rail Repairs to Close Old Highway 60 in Mulberry for Four Days

Published on Jul 22, 2022

Bartow, Fla. (July 22, 2022) — A recent track derailment requiring emergency crossing repairs by CSX Transportation (CSXT) will close the north-south leg of Old Highway 60 from State Road 60 to 1st Street near the Fuller Heights neighborhood in Mulberry on Monday morning, July 25. CSXT plans to reopen Old Highway 60 on Thursday evening July 28. Traffic will be detoured along State Road 60 to bypass closure. Fuller Heights residents can access their homesites along the east-west segment of Old Highway 60 from the intersection at State Road 60 in the unincorporated Willow Oak area. While the derailment occurred in the CSXT Mulberry Yard, repairs are also needed to correct damage to the Old Highway 60 crossing.  Detour will create brief local travel delays. Commuters should drive carefully, be alert to detour signs, and add extra drive time to trips in the area.

Anyone wanting to report a public road rail crossing issue or complaint should call CSX at 1-800-232-0144 or email them at TellCSX@csx.com.
