Polk County Parks and Natural Resources Closures

Bartow, Fla. (Oct. 8, 2024) — In advance of Hurricane Milton’s arrival, the following Polk County parks, facilities, and operations will close at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8 until further notice:

All Polk County parks and boat ramps
Youth and adult league activities
Community Resource Centers
Bone Valley ATV Park
Saddle Creek Gun Range
All stormwater and environmental lands sites
All programs and events at Polk’s Nature Discovery Center are canceled through the weekend and will resume after Circle B Bar Reserve reopens.

Polk County campgrounds closed at noon on today and will remain closed until further notice.

The Polk County History Center will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 9 and 10.
