Rescheduled Gas Pipeline Work to Close E Lake Parker Dr for One Week Starting Early Thursday Morning

Published: December 4, 2024

Bartow, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2024) — A Florida Gas Transmission project postponed due to recent cold weather has been rescheduled to start early Thursday morning, Dec. 5, shortly after midnight. Work to reroute a pressurized pipeline and abandon another section of pipe will close E. Lake Parker Drive at E. Memorial Boulevard (U.S. Highway 92) for one week. Pipeline work and pavement restoration will occur in the roadway travel lanes along Lakeland Electric’s power plant frontage on E. Lake Parker Drive Closure requires traffic turning from E. Memorial Boulevard onto northbound E. Lake Parker to briefly detour at Fairway Avenue north to Lakeview Street, then west to E. Lake Parker to bypass work zone. Southbound traffic along E. Lake Parker Drive heading to E. Memorial Boulevard will detour in reverse order by turning east on Lakeview Street, then south along Fairway Avenue to E. Memorial Boulevard . Minor travel delays and backups are expected, especially during peak hour traffic. Commuters should drive carefully, observe detour signs, and add extra drivetime to trips through the area.
