Bartow, Fla. (Feb. 26, 2024) — At approximately 9 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, Polk County Utilities (PCU) reported a major leak of a 12-inch line at the intersection of US 98 and 540-A. The location is at the northwest corner of the intersection. The subdivisions affected are Water Wood and River Lake as well as one commercial building on Hwy 98.

The map provided shows the area where customers will have their water shut off sometime between 10-11 p.m. tonight until repairs are completed.

Polk County Utilities has field crews and a contractor on site. Drivers are urged to use caution, as one lane of traffic will be closed along southbound US 98 and on 540-A westbound while PCU excavates down to the line and performs repairs.
