Bartow, Fla. (October 28, 2019) — On Wednesday, October 30, 2019, The public is welcome to attend the Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) Fall Honors and Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019. Robert Weech will ceremoniously be sworn in and recognized for his appointment as Fire Chief for PCFR. The event takes place at Polk State College Center for Public Safety in Winter Haven at 2:00 p.m.
Fire Rescue will also be recognizing those members who have reached career milestones and those who were integral in the division’s recent Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) accreditation. This is the first ambulance service accreditation for Polk County.
Weech, who recently completed the US Fire Administration’s Executive Fire Officer Program, joined PCFR in February 2017 as Deputy Fire Chief of Logistics and Special Services. He began his firefighting career with the City of Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue in 1999 and worked through the ranks to become the assistant chief of administration in 2008. As that agency merged with other operations, Rob served as division chief of finance and was later promoted to assistant chief of operations.
Prior to his fire services career, Weech was a certified public accountant for a large international accounting firm. He has an accounting degree from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Organizational Development from Upper Iowa University. Weech has attended several executive development trainings, including the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer. He is also a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
