Roads and Drainage
Roads and drainage systems, intersections, bridges, traffic signals, signs and striping. These are just some of the infrastructure projects Polk's Roads & Drainage Division oversees through the Community Investment Program.
This division is divided into several sections that provide vital services to Polk's residents. These sections include:
- Traffic Engineering
- Transportation Engineering
- Survey and Mapping
- Roadway Maintenance
- Inspection and Testing
ADA Transition Plan
The county's ADA Transition Plan is now available for review. The creation of the transition plan was part of the Roads and Drainage Division's effort to comply with the Americans with Diabilities Act.
The plan inventories physical barriers and identifies potential improvements for sidewalks, multi-use paths, curb ramps, street crossings, driveway crossings, crosswalks, median crossings and pedestrian-activated signal systems. It is always the intent for all individuals with disabilities to be reasonably accommodated by Polk County.
Road Inventory
Polk County has released an interactive map that gives residents access to the most up-to-date information on the county’s roads. Residents can search the online portal by address, road name or road number. They can see an aerial image of the road, interact with the road on Google Street View, see the length of the road and the roads it connects to, and learn the road speed limit.
